The Washington Healthplanfinder is an online marketplace where you can shop for insurance starting October 1st 2013 for coverage beginning January 1st 2014. Free or subsidized insurance options are available depending on your income.
News update *November 18, 2013*
While the president announced on 11/14/13 that people could keep their individual insurance plans for another year, individual states were given the option of whether or not to allow this. Washington State will not allow this change. If you have an individual health insurance plan and were informed that your plan is changing or ending in 2014, you may not keep your previous insurance. Please check the Washington Healthplanfinder: you may be surprised to find out you could get better coverage for similar or less money than you were paying. It’s worth exploring. If you have coverage through your employer or have Medicare, you are not affected.
